My article is titled “Flow of immigrant Children Across Border Slows,” and it is written by Phil Helsel from the NBC News website.
The article starts out by talking about how the number of children being found at the United States and Mexican border has decreased since June of 2014. The number is estimated around 5,500 children, those without adult company, were found at the border last Thursday, which is speculated to be about half of the number of children crossing the border in June. One of the reasons why this might be possible is because there has been increase of men put towards border control, the article’s video estimates about 3,100 more men, the added addition of helicopter help, and the added use of police dogs helps to track down people trying to cross the border.
In the further explanation, a different article titled “Fewer Children Being Apprehended at the Border” written by Suzanne Gamboa, says that the White House Press Secretary denies that the slacking in number comes from any one thing but probably a multitude of things including increasing the danger awareness, working with Central American leaders, seasonal flows, and warning the people that they can and may be sent back to their country.
One way to further solve the issues of border control would be to have further education on both parties, the US and Mexican government, about what it takes to make the trip to America and what will happen once you reach the border. Another would be better immigration policies and more efforts put towards controlling the borders. How this relates to other people and other issues around the world would be because there is problems with immigration everywhere, and the increase of undocumented peoples can lead to added conflict between the natives and the immigrants, political unrest, and more of a strain on resources the country may or may not have. This could lead to other issues such as xenophobia, political disputes, lack of food and other resources, riots, and possible civil unrest.
