In the past few years, there have been multiple terrorist attacks around the world; bombings and threats to citizens have shaken the hearts of people in many different nations. Some of these places include parts of Europe such as: Belgium, France, and Germany. The United States has also had a history of terrorism starting with the events of 9/11. The group known as “The Islamic State” or “ISIS” has been the main problem recently as they claim responsibility for the majority of the attacks. ISIS is a group of military and faith based radicals who are much different than anything the world has seen before.
Terrorism has been made easier by the world’s accessible transportation and relaxed border security. ISIS has done a good job of using its communication and radicalist ideas to recruit people from all nations for its sinister plots. The group is a new threat because it cannot be pin pointed on a specific group of people or nation. The threat of terrorism is the idea of attacking when people least expect it. Therefore, the battlefield has no borders. The world is struggling to find a solution for this issue, because there is no real way to prevent affiliation with a terrorist group.
Nations have a difficult time due to people feeling like they are being religiously intolerant or racist. With the idea of moving towards a future of accepting everyone’s beliefs, race, and culture without judgment, it is difficult to say that these groups are involved with a specific religion or race.
To combat terrorism in its newest form, stricter boarder laws need to be put in place, so that countries know who is entering. Countries need to communicate information regarding these groups to provide safer lives for everyone. Countries need to emphasize the importance of smart law enforcement and military bodies to lessen the distrust amongst people. By working on these, we can begin to fix problems that keep creating obstacles to the solution.
Common problems that are being faced with this topic are things that countries have struggled with for a long time. Issues with immigration control have put a strain on nations by making them question who is allowed to cross their boarder. The lack of production with illegal immigrants has created tension between governments and their people. Another large concern, especially within the United States, has been the distrust in law enforcement. People feel that they cannot trust the ones who are meant to protect them. Issues such as these are further reason that the battle against terrorism has been slow.
