Argentina Geography
Geography is an essential part of determining expanding or starting businesses overseas. Many aspects are taken into consideration such as transportation, communication, population, urbanization, agriculture, weather and climate. It becomes extremely difficult for businesses to advance in the world due to the condition of some or all of these features.
Transportation is necessary when considering geography of a country because the more difficult it is to move about within that country, the harder it will be to expand in that area. We looked at how many airports, roadways, railways, and waterways the country has access to and it seems much of the land is unpaved. This could potentially allow a business to flourish here since the land isn’t occupied as much.
Following transportation is communication. Having multiple ways of advertising a product allows for greater success; therefore, the more availability a country has to the rest of the world (i.e. television, telephone, radio station, and internet) the more likely a company will expand because more of the world’s population has some kind of access to your product. As for Argentina, much of the population is using internet, TV, and phone lines.
Since much of the population is using some source of communication, it’s important to understand exactly population in terms of how many people there are and how quickly that amount is growing per year. As of 2013, Argentina’s population count was 41.45 million. 92.5% of this population is urbanized and is increasing by 1% every year. This information is important to businesses because if a country isn’t growing at all there’s a higher chance that it won’t be supported and will diminish.
Lastly, natural features play an important role when determining a destination for expansion. Argentina is the second largest country in South America, which is why it is a great candidate when companies are exploring other countries. Also, depending on the industry type, weather and climate could be beneficial or detrimental. It seems Argentina has a decent mix of all kinds of weather so this could be useful for many businesses.
